Ian Gareth Butler
Ian Butler is a developing faster bowler and had his introduction to international cricket when Bond was injured. While not as fast, Butler is much younger and has the potential to develop more speed.
Butler made his debut against England at the beginning of 2002.
While he took only 14 wickets in his first 4 Tests and 6 wickets in his first 9 ODIs against England in March/April 2002.
He did the best thing by performing well at first-class level for Northern Districts and in the State Shield, the domestic one-day championship, he took 25 wickets at an economy rate of 3.07. That was an impressive return and one that suggests he is looking at the issues related to his One-Day International bowling where his economy rate is 5.51.
Butler is not out of the frame internationally and was selected in the Test side for the end of season tour to Sri Lanka. While not able to force his way into the side, he did pick up a brief stint with Gloucestershire where he appeared in four county matches taking 17 wickets at 28.11.
