FORMER Chief Minister Kalyan Singh on Monday demanded the arrest of Kanpur Zone IG Rizwan Ahmad, who has links with the ISI.
He also strongly condemned the planned murder of BJP legislator Devki Nandan Kori’s son Viccky. He alleged that Rizwan conspired to kill Viccky who was circumcised to claim compensation.
Rizwan Ahmad had closed links with Dilshad Beg, a mafia don of Nepal, who died in a gang war, he alleged. The former Chief Minister claimed that Rizwan Ahmad was whipping up communal passion in Aligarh while the district magistrate and the SSP, who were trying to control the riots, were suspended without any reason.
Kalyan Singh alleged that Rizwan Ahmad ignored the repeated claims of district magistrate Bhuvnesh Kumar and others that the deceased was a Hindu as the word ‘Om’ was tattooed on his hand. He said it was because of manipulations by the IG that one Banney came forward to claim compensation saying that the deceased was his grandson. He said that the riots in Aligarh could not be controlled till the IG was there as he was not allowing the DM and the SSP to do the needful and demanded his immediate removal from Aligarh.
Kalyan Singh accused the IG of arresting and taking action against people of only one community giving a free hand to the other to indulge in violence. He said that those who engineered the riots and were killed in police firing were getting compensation without any justification.
Justifying firing by the police on rioters in Aligarh, Kalyan Singh said the SSP, the DM and hundreds of Hindus who were ghearoed by an armed mob would have been killed and this was the reason that they had to order firing in self-defense.
State BJP president Keshari Nath Tripathi also demanded suspension of the police officer, who ordered lathicharge on peaceful traders in Mathura, who were holding a demonstration to protest against deteriorating law and order situation in the district.
