The dean of the student affair Dr Prawal Sinha said that the parents of 12 students, who were arrested by the police on Saturday, while participating in an agitation staged by the Y4E members against price rice, were informed about their act amounting to indiscipline, which has brought bad name for the institute. The institute would not hesitate in suspending the students if they failed to follow the directives of the institute, he added.

The leaders of the Y4E were summoned by Director Dr Sanjay G Dhande, deputy director, Professor Kripa Shanker and Dean of student affairs, Dr Prawal Sinha in the evening of Saturday. Meeting was also attended by the state representatives of Y4E–UP, Chandra Shekhar, Brijendra and Avani. The institute officials warned them against taking part in any type of agitation henceforth.

hey said if the students did not pay any heed to the warning, the institute might initiate action against them and the action might prove detrimental to their career.

Meanwhile, members of the Youth for Equality (Y4E) have now decided to fight a legal battle against the government policy of granting reservation to the OBC in the professional and engineering institutes.

The Y4E members had a very depressing experience on Saturday when they were refused by the district administration to express their resentment over the reservation policy by forming a human chain at the Phoolbagh area. They alleged they had informed the authorities about their plan of forming human chain on Saturday to mark their protest against the OBC reservation. But neither the district authorities denied permission nor it permitted to form the human chain. At the eleventh hour, the police warned them not to go outside the campus for any dharna. emonstration.
