Talking to medipersons here on Wednesday, IJP youth wing State president and former BHU Students’ Union general secretary Dr Umesh Singh said the party would observe August 7 as ‘Reservation Day’.
He said the party would also discuss the government’s land acquisition policy for development projects.
He said reservation should be ensured in the private sector.
Privatisation was depriving the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and the Other Backward Classes of job opportunities, he added.
He also said the Centre should make a provision for reservation in those sports in which the country did not fare well. He added that if the government trained tribals, they would do better in sports.
He said Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati was playing into the hands of capitalists.
Singh said the land acquisition issue for the Reliance Energy Project at Dadri would hit the Samajwadi Party Government hard.
He alleged the State Government was playing the role of mediator in acquiring farmers’ land for capitalists.
To a query, Dr Umesh Singh said that no outsider could restore the defunct students’ union of the BHU.
“The students of the BHU should take the initiative in this regard. Outsiders or former student leaders can only extend their support to the cause,” he said.
