IMA passes resolution opposing reservation

The IMA said that merit should be the only criteria for admission to these institutions.

The Indian Medical Association on Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution opposing any move to reserve seats in elite educational institutions for OBCs.

"We wholeheartedly oppose increase in reservation quota for OBC in higher technical institutions like medicine, engineering, management, technical, etc," the IMA said in its resolution.

"Merit should be the only criteria for admission to these institutions. We urge the government of India and government of Maharashtra to take serious note of it and resolve this matter amicably," the resolution added.
