Independent candidate arrested in Orissa

An Independent candidate from Sorada assembly seat in Orissa and four of his supporters were arrested today for allegedly entering the building where Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) had been kept.

"Independent candidate Nilamani Bishoyee and four others were arrested after they forcibly entered the building at Bhanjanagar where voting machines had been kept," Superintendent of Police Nitinjit Singh said.

Bishoyee and his supporters also threatened the poll officials after entering the prohibited area, he said.
