Sheikh Abdul Rashid, who represents Langate constituency of north Kashmir's Kupwara district in the state Assembly, announced the formation of the party "Awami Ettihaad" (Peoples' unity) at a press conference here.

"The party will represent true sentiments and aspirations of the people. It will give an honest leadership which is answerable to the people, something which has been missing on the political stage of the state," Rashid said.

Rashid said his party will fight for the resolution of Kashmir issue, an end to human rights violations, good governance and equal development of all regions.

With an aim to end dynastic politics at all levels in the state, Rashid said he was ready to tie up with like-minded people for the assembly elections scheduled next year.
