But for their narrow loss to Iran in their second Group A league match that went to the wire, India could well have repeated their third place finish in Seoul '86.

The bronze medal win in Seoul remains India's best performance in the history of the Games.

Against Taipei today India won in exactly two hours and excelling for the winners were Jobi Joseph, Tom Joseph and Kapil Dev.

Jobi Joseph, who has had a good outing here being the best attacker for India in their earlier matches, continued his good form today. Tom Joseph and Kapil Dev also excelled as India overcame a brief fightback by Taipei in the third set.
