India-Italy trade to receive boost

Trade relations between India and Italy in the leather sector is set to receive a boost with a series of measures being planned.

Trade relations between India and Italy in the leather sector is set to receive a boost with a series of measures being planned, an official from the Indian Leather Desk in Italy said on Wednesday.

Italian National Association of footwear components, UNAC, in cooperation with the Council for Leather Exports, India, will organise a meeting in the Italian "Footwear Components" cluster, to show FDI and Joint Venture opportunities in India, Mario Pucci, Consultant, Indian Leather Desk, Italy said.

Aimpes, the Italian Association of leather goods makers, is considering organising a mission of Italian manufacturers to India during the leather goods fair to be held in Kolkata in February 2007,

Speaking at a seminar on "Tanning Industry-opportunities and Challenges", Mario dwelt on the opportunities available to India in the Italian leather market.

India will be the "focus country" at the next edition of Expo Riva Schuh, an important fair in Europe, with almost 70 Indian footwear companies taking part.
