"The governments both India and Pakistan have been violating the UN convention on Laws of Seas by not releasing these fishermen and their boats," said Mohammed Alisa, President of the Pakistan Fisher Folk Forum.
The security agencies of both countries including National Fishworkers' Forum India, Peace Mumbai, Pakistan Fisher Folk Forum and the Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research have seized the fishermen's boats.
"Article 73 of this UN convention is very clear on this issue which says the fishermen arrested from the territorial water of the countries on account of fishing, should be let off after collecting fine from them," Alisa said.
