India sweep SAIL South Asian TT Championship

It was an Indian sweep at the SAIL South Asian table tennis championships on Tuesday, with Neha Agarwal claiming a double crown and Sanil Setty annexing the boys' singles title by prevailing over their compatriots in Kolkata.

Agarwal did justice to her top billing by emerging champion in the girls' singles after staving off a spirited fight from Ashlesha Bodas 11-9, 11-4, 6-11, 11-13, 13-11 and 11-9.

She then joined forces with Prajakta Tipale to coast to a 11-9, 12-10, 6-11 and 16-14 victory over K Shamini and Bodas at the Netaji Indoor stadium.

The Indian juggernaut rolled on in the boys' event as well, as Setty pipped Aniket Koparkar 11-9, 11-5, 5-11, 11-13, 3-11, 11-7 and 11-7 in the singles final.

The doubles summit clash then saw Devesh Karia and Koparkar get the better of Setty and S Seshadri 11-6, 4-11, 9-11, 11-2 and 11-9.

Yesterday, India had lifted the boys and girls team titles and also won the honours in cadet boys and girls.
