Jagdeep Chahal (32) is accused of slipping a drug into a woman's drink, then sexually assaulting her in the bathroom of a club.
He "absolutely asserts his innocence," defence lawyer Sarah Williams said after his brief court appearance, and will plead not guilty to charges of sexual assault and administering a noxious substance, Toronto star reported.
Chahal based in Brampton, is married and has no previous criminal record.
"He's a little bit shaken up, but he's doing okay," Wiliams said. "He's got the support of his friends and family."
He turned himself on Saturday, a day after police released surveillance footage showing him entering the club with another man.
His arrest was "a traumatic experience for a client who's not expecting to be charged with a crime," she said.
Chahal is barred from entering Toronto's Entertainment District, consuming alcohol or frequenting bars, according to terms of his realease.
He can leave home only between 10 pm and 6 am in the presence of his parents or his wife.
