About 18 Bangladeshi smugglers after crossing Kumargram border with 80 pairs of cattle heads, were arrested on Friday night, BSF sources said on Saturday.
Local people of Kumargram alleged they lived in fear as looters and smugglers from across the border often enter the Indian territory and loot people.
Kumargram, a remote village of this South Dinajpur district bordering Bangladesh, is the pilgrim for pilferers, they alleged.
On February 6 in broad daylight, some Bangladeshi anti-socials kidnapped Ashim Sarkar (19), an Indian farmer of Kumargram village while he was filling his land.
Four days after the flag-march between BSF and Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), the boy was rescued.
