An Indian, serving a 15-year jail term, has died of a heart attack in prison, his friends and police said.

The man had been jailed for 15 years on charges of drug smuggling.

A media report quoted police sources as saying that Abdul Rahman Koshi (49), hailing from Kerala suffered a heart attack and his body was found in his cell on Wednesday.

His friends told Gulf News that Koshi, after offering his morning prayers collapsed and died.

Koshi is survived by his wife, two sons and one daughter who live in Kerala.
