The police have not released the identity or the nationality of the woman but reports say she was a postgraduate Indian student studying at the University of Wolverhampton.

A man was also found at the scene with serious injuries when the police were called on Tuesday evening. He is said to be in a stable condition in hospital.

A police spokeswoman said that details of the incident would be released later in the day.

The cause of the woman's death or injuries to the man has not been revealed, but police have initiated house-to-house inquiries at the scene.

The West Midlands police said forensic tests were being carried out at the property and a post-mortem examination would be carried out on the body later.

A spokesman of the University of Wolverhampton did not confirm that the woman was an Indian student at the university, and directed all inquiries to the West Midlands police.
