Enthusiasts of Indian classical arts will get an opportunity to enjoy an Odissi performance here next week by an Indian American creative dance group.

The production, titled "Sakshi" (Witness), will open April 13.
It will explore the many meanings of sakshi through a series of dances depicting the transformation from everyday reality to the theatrical presentation of a divine art.
The performance will have dancer-actor Rajika Puri as a narrator and will be accompanied by live music.
Trinayan Collective, a group of New York-based professional women dedicated to performing and disseminating Odissi dance, is presenting the show.
It has earlier put up two previous productions, the last being "Neel: The Eternal Blue", which explored the dark colour attributed to Hindu gods.
The group is also active in community projects in and around the New York area.
Dance critic Deborah Jowitt of The Village Voice remarked, "the six members of Trinayan Collective and Bani Ray, their teacher, perform with a technical power, passion, and devotion that does their guru, Shri Durga Charan Ranbir, proud. Their dedication and discipline are in themselves moving".
The dancers who are part of the new production are - Bani Ray, Alicia Pascal, Kakoli Mukherjee, Nandini Sikand, Sylvia Lim, Nalini Singh, Sambrita Basu.
They will be accompanied by vocalist Partha Mukherjee, Ananda Chanda on sitar and tabla player Kumar Das.
