A row between two Indo-Canadian MPs over the leadership of a parliamentary group came up before the House of Commons.
Ontario Liberal MP Ruby Dhalla on Friday alleged at the Commons that Calgary Conservative MP Deepak Obhrai threatened to smear her reputation during a meeting of Canada-India Friendship Group on Thursday.
Obhrai categorically denied her account of events and also said that he would neither apologise to her nor respond in the Commons.
The Liberal MP said she raised the matter in the Commons "because I do not think that any member of this House should be intimidated, should be threatened or verbally abused."
Deputy speaker Bill Blaikie said there would be no ruling on Dhalla's question of privilege until Obhrai has told his side of the story.
