These border posts would be set up in Maharajganj, Siddhartnagar, Balrampur and Shrawasti districts of Uttar Pradesh and would also maintain a vigil on illegal infiltration, SSB's Deputy Inspector General HS Dev said on Thursday.

With these the number of SSB posts along the border would go up to 72 from 45, he said.

Besides keeping a watch on all those crossing the border from either sides, the SSB personnel were maintaining round-the-clock vigil on anti-social elements.

Dev said that information regarding the anti-national activities and intelligence inputs about the border areas were being forwarded to the Union Home Ministry and further action on the security arrangements on the border would be taken up as per the directives of the Centre.

The DIG said SSB personnel deployed along the Indo-Nepal border have succeeded in seizing smuggled goods worth Rs 1.60 crore in the past nine months and contraband worth Rs 49 lakh.

As many as 116 smugglers were also arrested during this period, he added.
