Major Raman who was critically injured while in a gun-battle with militants in Tangmarg area of North Kashmir on Tuesday breathed his last at an army base hospital here at around 1 am, a defence sposkesman said.

Another army official, Major KP Vinay, was also killed in the exchange of fire between militants and security forces yesterday.

Security forces had launched an operation in the area following specific information about the presence of militants in the forest.
