"Indian IT industry is able to work on innovation and value addition to some extent. This has to be pursued vigorously in all verticals of the industry," Khanna said today in the keynote address at 'Leadership Summit 06' at Indian School of Business (ISB) in Bangalore.

Currently Ranbaxy has 350 scientists working on new drug discovery in a team of 1100 scientists, he said.

The corporate leadership should step out of its conventional role to play a larger role in public domain, Khanna said.

Poor governance and poor infrastructure was hindering flow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to India. Though the Confederation of Indian Industry and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry were putting some efforts to bring in policy change in the government, industry and government should work together in this direction, he said.

The one-day summit was orgnaised by the students of ISB as a platform for evoking thought leadership in global business environment.
