The iconic YBR chicken, Idli chaat and Bull’s eye — rich warm chocolate dessert topped with vanilla ice-cream, act as a food-junkie magnet to the Yellow Brick Road (YBR) at the Vivanta by Taj. So much so that the restaurant, with a new al fresco setting, has increased the number of covers from 58 to 100. It serves a wide range of mocktails, cocktails and wine.

For a breezy lunch in summer, light mocktails and Idli chat make perfect starters. “Papdi chaat is common, so I thought of replacing papdi with crispy idli and invented idli chaat,” says Chef Vijay Malik, who has experimented with food and churned out dishes at YBR for 25 years.

YBR chicken — a tender, boneless chicken served with fried potatoes sautéed veggies is a popular main course dish. “It is one of our iconic dishes. People drive from miles for it”, adds Chef Malik. While mouths drool at the food, YBR’s 10-page long tabloid menu with daily horoscope, trivia, science facts and graffiti attracts all eyeballs.
