All 100 CCTV cameras installed at the border toll plaza and 48 others at Kherki Daula toll plaza, where collection staff Umeshkant Pandey was shot dead by an SUV occupant, have stationary lenses and do not have the zoom-in and zoom-out features.
According to toll management firm Delhi-Gurgaon Super Connectivity Limited (DGSCL), the CCTVs can record each transaction inside the collection booths and identify the type of vehicles that have different toll rates.
The Haryana minister of state for home, Gopal Kanda, has asked the police to issue instructions to the expressway management firm to install quality cameras. The minister has also mounted pressure on police for cracking the case soon.
