Iran is trying its best to get a deal to sell liquefied natural gas (LNG) to India ratified by the Tehran cabinet's council of economy as soon as possible, Iran's deputy oil minister said on Thursday.

Mohammad Hadi Nejad-Hosseinian was speaking at a news conference in New Delhi.

India and Iran have signed a preliminary agreement for imports of 5 million tonnes of LNG to India.
