Irony of a Stock Broker

This is the story of how Feng Shui helped a stock broker and how his stature received a boost, writes Mohan Deep.

I have come across people from all walks of life including the Beauty Queens - even a runner up from Illinois about whom I will write some other time (her scandalous story will interest the lovers of Hollywood gossip), politicians (including a Councilor in UK), entrepreneurs, sailors, filmmakers, shopkeepers, housewives, girls searching for their knights in armours, authors having writer's block, IT professionals, doctors…but this is the first time that I encountered a stock broker.

This is the story of how Feng Shui helped a stock broker! To put the irony in nutshell, whenever Michael, a stock broker, bought a stock it started sliding and whenever he sold certain stock, the price would rise! It went on for a whole year in a rising stock market."It would be hilarious if it wasn't for the amount of money that I have lost," said the stockbroker "The total is huge." He called on my landline, reciting his woes in one long narration. "It is as if the gods are angry with me."

His last question was: could Feng Shui change his luck in the stock market? He rattled the names of the stocks that had `betrayed` him. "Will you describe your business as a gamble?" I asked him. "Well… there is an element of luck involved but I will not describe it as gambling. I would call it informed speculation. He explained, "My judgment has not been wrong. Whatever I bought has gone up but only after I offloaded it!

Avoiding the trap of `speculation v/s gambling`, I asked him the usual questions. His element turned out to be Wood which also is the element of this trade. Have you been occupying the same office or you have had to change the office, or the table position? He had changed his office over a year ago! It turned out that, in his new office, David was sitting facing his chueh ming direction, had a huge beam above him and his business was in the name of his wife whose element was metal and worse, the money corner of his cubical was incomplete.

"I have read in your columns that sitting below the beam causes problems like business losses, stagnation in the career and even health problems. Touchwood, my health is okay. But the business has certainly suffered. So has my career," the broker continued. Among the Feng Shui suggestions I gave him was placing the painting of Apex to climb up the ladder of success, flutes to nullify the negative effect of the beam and use of bamboo plant sticks to complete the Money corner.

With everything in place - I gave him, in all 30 tips - David started with a lot of optimism. Feng Shui didn't disappoint him. It worked like magic and F-A-S-T-E-R than in most cases. "My business grew at slightly fast speed but what has thrilled me is my record in the stock market. It is as if I have developed Midas touch overnight. Touch wood. The trend has continued for two weeks in a row. I wiped out the losses in first five days and then started the gains. I am ahead." David said happily.

Every such case is a public acknowledgement of the way Feng Shui works.
