IRP battalion to serve east Mizoram

The second Indian Reserve Police Mizoram Battalion, which was set up at Khawzawl last week, will serve the eastern part of Mizoram ensuring the safety and security of the people in the region.

The second Indian Reserve Police Mizoram Battalion, which was set up at Khawzawl last week, will serve the eastern part of Mizoram ensuring the safety and security of the people in the region.

The state home minister, Tawnluia, who inaugurated the Battalion, urged the officials to make a proper project plan for the construction of the police quarters, so that he could present it to the planning board at the earliest.

He also announced that the 3rd Indian Reserve Mizoram Battalion would soon be raised.

K Amon, the commanding officer of the 2nd IR Battalion, said that the battalion had 950 personnel and it was serving at 7 posts in Aizawl district and at 9 posts at Champhai and Serchhip Districts and that it had started functioning from June 15, 2001.
