These two members including Rai Kamal Gupta Special Secretary Energy Ministry and BK Dubey Joint Secretary of Culture were sent as the Task Force members by the Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on the report submitted by T George Joseph to probe the irregularities in Kanya Vidyadhan scheme.
The task force members found Meja tehsil as the most affected where heavy sum was realised for issuance of income certificates. Both officers went to Meja tehsil on Thursday morning for physical verification of the documents.
They met the beneficiaries in villages of Barsaita, Bandhwa and Mahuawari under Meja teshil where tampering in over one dozen of income certificates was detected. Income in nearly 40 certificates was increased and even Rs 500 was realized for the same purpose.
Taking serious note both officials seized all the documents immediately to take it to Lucknow for further probe.
In urban area , the team physically verified 22 beneficiaries and all were found actual one. However, during the meeting tehsildars were strictly warned to take all precautionary measures while issuing the income certificates. They were asked to keep one register to have details of the applicants. Thereafter the lekhpals should be asked to file report of each applicant within stipulated time so that transparency may be maintained.
To recall reviewing the progress of the Kanya Vidyadhan Scheme, the Chief Minister had said that Rs. 25 crore had been earmarked for the girl students who had passed their intermediate examinations. If need be, then more funds would be made available for the purpose, he added.
CM had said that the sole aim of the scheme was to assist the intermediate pass girl students belonging to under privileged sections specially, so that they could plan their future.
He said that the scheme would encourage the poor parents to ensure education for their girls. A provision of Rs. 20,000 for payment to each intermediate pass girl has been made under this scheme.
