The International Society For Krishna Consciousness (ISCKON) on Saturday inaugurated its newly-constructed temple, built at an estimated cost of Rs 5 crore, in the presence of devotees, including Alfred Ford of Ford Motors and popular Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee.

ISKCON had taken the decision to set up the temple and later a centre in Ujjain as Lord Krishna and Balaram were believed to have studied in Guru Sandipni Ashram situated in Ujjain.
The head of the religious body, Bhakti Charu Swami and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and present Commerce Minister Babulal Gaur and a large number of ISKCON members were present on the occasion.
Gaur appealed to ISKCON to set up a similar temple in Bhopal and assured that the state government would provide the necessary land for the purpose to ISKCON.
Speaking on the occasion, Rani Mukherjee thanked ISKCON for inviting her to the grand ceremony and recalled her family's long association with the group.
