“QUALITY IS the keyword for success in the garment industry. ISO 9000 certification is the most important condition in national and international tenders. Small industries can also acquire this certification. A flawless system of production results in the products of desired quality.”

Bureau of Indian Standards, Bhopal Director A K Sharma expressed these views at the inauguration of workshop on ISO 9000 and total quality management organised by Small Industries Service Institute (SISI) and Readymade Vastra Vyapari Sangh, Indore recently.

SISI Deputy Director (Chem) Dr D S Mandloi delivered the welcome address. SISI Director J P Nagar said that ISO 9000 certificate is just like a passport for export market. Small Industries Development Organization provides a subsidy of up to Rs 75,000 to the units that obtain ISO 9000 certificate, he added.

ISO 9000 certificate can be obtained within three months. Nagar told the industrialists that Dr D S Mandloi is a lead assessor for ISO 9000 certification.

Vyapari Sangh president Shantipriya Doshi mentioned that the government provides financial assistance to the small-scale industries for obtaining ISO 9000 certificate. It is very significant for entering the global market.
SISI Publicity Incharge Anil Verma conducted the programme while Vyapari Sangh secretary Ashish Nigam proposed the vote of thanks.

Rajeev Raizada of Proactive Consultant Limited and Rizwan Khan gave presentations on ‘Introduction to ISO 9000 and its economic benefits’ and concept of continuous quality improvement and integrating it with ISO 9000 in the technical session.
