The Indian Cricket Board on Saturday said that the present four-match series as well as all future Test engagements between India and Australia would be fought for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

"India and Australia would always be fighting for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in their Test series. It will be a permanent trophy. Currently they are battling it out in the TVS Cup series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the trophy has already reached the Board office in Mumbai," Nair told reporters on Saturday.

There have been reports in the media that the Australian team and Cricket Australia were not happy with the fact that the series was being held for two different trophies.

Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar had, in his syndicated column recently, castigated the Indian Board for devaluing the trophy and also said that former Australian skipper Allan Border too was unhappy with the situation.

Incidentally the former Indian captain is the national team's batting consultant too.

"I had a dialogue with Gavaskar (on the matter) and after knowing the exact position, he is not unhappy," Nair added.
