The height of luxury was on display at a boat show held on Thursday near the Gateway of India.

The show featured a host of different motor yachts, displaying a range in size and shape from more modest watersport boats to more luxurious powerboats.
New Wave Distributors, a Mumbai based water-sports equipment and yacht distribution company, hosted the show. Present were the co-owners of New Wave, Atul Bhonsie and Rajiv Bhatia, who started the company two and a half years ago.
The show might seem out of place in the recent economic instability, but it was designed to demonstrate, through a range of products from kayaks to powerboats, that watersports could be available at any budget.
From the island city of Mumbai, the company’s co-owners seemed committed to finding a way for people to access the water at any price.
Similarly, New Wave Distributors has invested in alternative designs, such as a clear kayak for tropical reef viewing and an amphibious boat with wheels that can drive up onto the beach. With inventive designs and a range in price, the show was an example of a company aiming to weather the storm and survive despite economic trouble.
