"No doubt this is a matter of shame. It must have come as a setback to all the supporters of Indian sports including athletes, administrators and the media," the official said requesting anonimity.

He said such things would continue to haunt Indian sports, untill and unless the administrators were held accountable.

"There is no accountability in Indian sports. How could such things continue to happen again and again. First it was at the Commonwealth Games and now here. It would not stop as long as there is not accountabilty," he said.

In the Manchester Commonwealth Games, two Indian lifters Krishnan Madasamy and Sateesha Rai tested positive for banned substances.

Pratima Kumari was one of the five weightlifters who were tested positive for banned substances here.

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) named the other four as male lifters Viktor Chislean of Moldova, Zoltan Kecskes of Hungary and women Sule Sahbaz of Turkey and Morocco's Wafa Ammouri.
