A safety audit of J&K hospitals has thrown up a startling revelation — total lack of basic fire safety requirements.

CM Omar Abdullah had issued instructions to the home department for the fire safety audit of all hospitals following the fire at AMRI hospital.

“We have completed the audit of almost all the major and minor hospitals, nursing homes and health centres. Unfortunately, it was found that the fire safety measures in all the hospitals are dismal or almost negligible,” said director general of Fire and Emergency Service, GA Bhat.
