The 28-year-old Asagoe, who entered the US Open with a losing record this year, will have to improve on her 53 unforced errors in her fourth round victory over Greece's Eleni Daniilidou.

"Against Davenport mistakes can be fatal so I will have to play 120 percent," Asagoe said. "I am not satisfied yet because I know I can go further in this tournament."

With a victory here, Davenport would take over the No. 1 world ranking from Justine Henin-Hardenne, who was eliminated in the fourth round on Monday.

Asagoe is a huge underdog against Davenport and is the only unseeded player remaining in the field. She has paid her dues as she is still seeking her first WTA title after seven years on the tour.
