The stones were thrown when she was addressing the meeting, causing a flutter. However, the Chief Minister asked police officials to ascertain from where the stones were being thrown and continued with her speech, they said.

The van was slightly damaged, police said.

Jayalalithaa then asked the voters to teach a lesson to the "evil forces" and shun them. She also said she was not afraid of any evil force.

Later, police officials rushed towards the direction from where the stones were pelted but could not trace anyone.

Puthia Tamizhagam leader Krishnaswamy is also contesting from Tenkasi constituency.
