Jazz to rock temple city of Varanasi

Sunbeam Group of Educational Institutions is going to organize a dance workshop for children and adults in Varanasi keenly interested to learn the contemporary dancing styles including Jazz, ballet, salsa along with Indian styles.

Soon the temple city would be dancing on the feet tapping numbers choreographed by Bollywood choreographer Shiamak Davar.

Sunbeam Group of Educational Institutions is going to organize a dance workshop for children and adults keenly interested to learn the contemporary dancing styles including Jazz, ballet, salsa along with Indian styles.

Techniques to perform flawless contemporary and Indian dancing styles would be imparted by dance instructors from Shiamak Davar's Institute for the Performing Arts (SDIPA) in the fortnightly workshop scheduled from July 6.

'Any one either Sunbeamian or outsider of all ages seeking interest to learn the contemporary and Indian dancing styles could attend the special dance workshop', said Vice Principal Aditya Choudhury of Sunbeam English School Lahartara branch while talking to Hindustan Times on Wednesday.

He said that the objective of organizing the workshop was to offer an opportunity to the students and Kashites to learn dance with special focus on styles and techniques. He said besides the knowledge of dance, Shiamak's Dance Education would also help to de-stress the students and develop well-rounded personalities.

Aditya said that the syllabus of the dance workshop draws from Jazz technique, Ballet exercises, Indian dance forms, Yoga, physical training disciplines, dance therapy activities and theatre arts.

'Shiamak Davar is likely to grace the Grand Finale function scheduled on July 23', he said.

The workshop would be of 15 hours duration for children (5yrs to 12 yrs) and adults (12 yrs and above). The timings of the workshop at four different venues would be 9am to 10:15 am at Sunbeam Bhagwanpur, 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm at Sunbeam Lahartara, 4pm to 5:15 pm at Sunbeam Varuna and 6pm to 7:15 pm at Sunbeam Annapurna branches respectively.

He said that the fee structure for the students has been kept Rs 2100 that could be deposited in two installments including first installment of Rs 1000 to be paid with the consent form and second installment of Rs 1100 to be submitted by July 1. The fee structure for the family members and non-Sunbeamians would be Rs 2500.
