Jharkhand police, rail to keep watch on tracks

Jharkhand police and railways today decided to jointly look after rail safety even as several trains in Jharkhand have either been cancelled or diverted in the wake of train accident.

Jharkhand police and railways on Saturday decided to jointly look after rail safety even as several trains in Jharkhand have either been cancelled or diverted in the wake of train accident.

"Detailed discussions on safeguarding railway tracks and safety of passengers have been held. The railways and the state police will jointly assist each other in this regard," senior railway official, who attended a meeting convened by the state police chief, Neyaz Ahmed, said.

The railways have cancelled or diverted several trains under Dhanbad, Ranchi and Chakradharpur rail divisions.

"Passenger trains from Jharkhand passing through Kharagpur-Tata and Kharagpur-Adra during nights have been cancelled while routes of some express trains have been diverted for the time being," the railway official said.

Dhanbad Railway Division suspended seven trains June 2 in Central Industrial Chord (CIC) under Dhanbad rail division in Jharkhand, a senior official said here today.

The cancelled trains are; Palamau Express, Barkakana-Patna Express, Gomo-Barwadih passenger, Barwadhi-Gomo passenger, Gomo-Dehri-on-Sone passenger, Barkakana-Gomo passenger and Gomo-Barkakana passenger train, division's Puplic Relations Officer Amrendra Das said.
