"Batote-Kishtwar national highway is in such a bad shape that it has virtually become a death trap. Neither MP Jitendra Singh nor the MLAs of the erstwhile Doda district are addressing this problem," he said in a statement.

Jitendra Singh is an MP from the Udhampur-Doda parliamentary constituency. The BJP has won four out of the six assembly seats of the erstwhile Doda district. The chief minister on a tour to Doda had sanctioned `12-cr for the repair of this road.

Wani, who is also a former minister, said the conditions of the inter-district roads are much worse but the government is unmindful of it.

He said if immediate steps are not taken, the Congress would start an agitation and would hold protests across the district.
