The Valaya collections, at LIFW 2005, are a tribute to the sheer genius of Georges Remi (1907-1983) popularly known as HERGE, the creator of perhaps the world's most prolific comic book characters- Tintin.
Young glamour splashed with bold details; covert flashes of signature multicultural influences and the finest of handloom fabrics and crafts. The palette veers from Black & Ivories and then to Antique and finally to lush color. The final collection revolves around Herge's own favourite - Tintin in Tibet (1960), because, according to him, "it's the one into which I put the most of myself". Printing and subdued surface treatments provide the required cutting edge to a collection rife with glorious layering and textural experimentation.
