Academy award winning actress Julia Roberts has taken on a producer's role in an upcoming independent comedy.

Contactmusic.com reports that Roberts will produce Jesus Henry Christ, based on a Student Academy Award-winning short film.

The story revolves around a boy conceived in a laboratory petri dish and his subsequent search for his biological father.

The film will be directed by Dennis Lee, who helmed the original 2003 short film.

Roberts has also worked with Lee in one of her two upcoming movies Fireflies in the Garden.
