“Development works of the department are being delaying due to non-acceptance of their genuine demands. The department has appointed a number of class-four employees in the office to look after clerical jobs whereas they are required in the fields and it is one of our demands to speed up development works,” said HK Sharma, state president of the association.

Sharma said due to lack of promotions in the department, a few junior engineers retired without promotion after serving the department for many years.

He said the government was not serious over regularising JEs working on contracts and added that the department had failed in procuring spare parts necessary for the repair work and JEs usually face awkward situation when they face people in the fields over non-compliance of their complaints due to lack of spare parts.

He warned the government to have a proper dialogue with the association for solving the long pending issues to speed up development works and provide efficient services to the common people, otherwise the association would be forced to take to roads to press for their demands.
