K Vijayaraghavan arrested in Chennai on graft charges

An assistant commissioner of commercial taxes was arrested in Chennai on Tuesday by anti-corruption sleuths on graft charges.

An assistant commissioner of commercial taxes was arrested in Chennai on Tuesday by anti-corruption sleuths on graft charges.

K Vijayaraghavan was arrested by officers of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption while accepting a sum of Rs. 15,000 from P Vaidyanathan, proprietor of Orange Healthcare, police said.

He had allegedly demanded Rs. 25,000 from the complainant for transferring his Commercial Tax accounts from Chennai to Senkottai zone in Tirunelveli district and settled for Rs. 15,000 for also issuing Vaidyanathan a C-Form to allow him procure medicines for his pharmaceutical company from outside the state, police added.

Vijayraghavan was arrested on a complaint from the businessman.
