Some congestion was witnessed near Sarita Vihar and Jamia area in Delhi on Sunday morning after the closure of one carriageway from Delhi to Noida.

The repair work which is being carried out by the irrigation department is expected to be completed in two phases. After a month, the carriageway from Noida to Delhi will be closed from January 23 to February 24.

This was decided after rounds of meeting between Delhi and Noida traffic police officials and Uttar Pradesh irrigation department.

Only one-way traffic movement — from Noida to Delhi — will be allowed on one side of the carriageway for one month. The other side will be a no-entry zone. The traffic police have asked commuters to use DND and Nizamuddin bridge to reach Noida.

“The carriageway from Delhi to Noida will be closed for a month. Commuters can use Ashram and Nizamuddin Bridge to reach Noida. Little congestion was reported in South Delhi while traffic remained slow at Noida Gate and near Sector 15,” said MP Singh, SP (Traffic).

Meanwhile, the DND Flyway management has deputed extra men to manage the traffic on the expressway.
