Talking to newspersons, Singh denied that they ever had any misunderstanding or bitter relations. "Ours in fact are very cordial relations," he said, and added that media reports to the contrary were baseless.

He, however, evaded a direct reply to a question if the party was thinking to project Kalyan Singh as the chief ministerial candidate in the state.

"That you would know when the time comes," he said.

Singh also ruled out any truce with SP and BSP in the state. He said the party would be fighting elections on its own. Alliance, if any, would be forged with the NDA partners, he said.

Rajnath Singh denied that the BJP had been marginalised in Uttar Pradesh, pointing out that the party had got just one per cent votes less than the SP.
