The tiger, with the iron ring of a probably faulty trap around one of its limbs, was captured by the camera of these tourists, who immediately alerted the Park authorities. Officials rushed to the Mukhi area where the tiger was spotted after dusk. They tranquilised it and freed it from the iron ring.

Kanha Tiger Reserve Tiger Director K Naik and his deputy S R Sen could not be contacted as they were inside the park. MP Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) P B Gangopadhaya said the tiger was fine and had been released into the forests inside the park. “The Kanha director passed this information to me,” he said.
