Kanpur, city to witness baby boom

The report of the Health Department’s Vital Statistics wing states that the maximum number of births will take place in Kanpur, followed by Lucknow (70,150 births).
The estimated urban population of Kanpur this year will be 31,80,122, whereas that of Lucknow will be 26,37,215. Rural populace is expected to give strong competition to their urban brethren in terms of population growth. While 47,175 children will be born in the rural areas of Kanpur (Nagar), in Lucknow 47,617 newborns will be added to the rural population.
The report states that estimated deaths in Kanpur (Nagar) will be 22,261 and 14,797 deaths are expected in rural areas of the district. In the State capital, 18,460 people are expected to die in the urban area and 14,936 in rural area.
Statistics department officials estimate that among urban population lowest birth (978) is expected in Shravasti district. The rural population of Allahabad will witness 13,28,94 births, followed by Azamgarh’s 12,92,47.
Among the important districts, the estimated urban population of Varanasi district by year-end will be 13,57,129 and rural population is expected to be 20,99,805. Gorakhpur’s urban (8,22,452) and rural population is expected to be 32,93774.
Officials said they estimate that 46,50,427 children would be born in the urban areas of the State and 10,44,104 newborns added to the rural population.
Whereas 2,74,765 deaths is expected in urban areas and 14,58,674 in the rural area.
Vital statistics wing maintains the record of births and deaths in various districts.
The wing works under director-general Medical Health, who also holds the post of registrar of births and deaths.
