Karnataka Legislative Assembly secretary T Rajanna, charged with misappropriation of funds and dereliction of duty, has been suspended by the Legislature's Special Board.

He had also been charged with irresponsible behaviour, indiscipline and action leading to losses to the state exchequer. The suspension order said that Rajanna failed to respond to notices sent to him.
Rajanna had been accused of irregularities in purchase of briefcases distributed to newly elected members of the 12th Legislative Assembly, furniture for the lobby of the Assembly and renovating the chambers of the Speaker and the Opposition Leader, among other things.
