The Karnataka Government on Monday announced that it would provide Rs five crore to the police department to check Naxalite activities and take precautionary measures against the menace.

Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa announced this while presenting the 2006-07 state budget in the assembly. He said, "to check crime in Bangalore City, the government proposed to give the department 49 patrolling vehicles for which Rs 3.2 crore would be earmarked."
