Karthikeyan impresses at home race

Narain Karthikeyan proved a point at the home GP, finishing 17th, a spot ahead of team-mate Daniel Ricciardo at the Buddh International Circuit.

Narain Karthikeyan proved a point at the home GP, finishing 17th, a spot ahead of team-mate Daniel Ricciardo at the Buddh International Circuit.

Ricciardo, a Red Bull junior driver, was quicker than Karthikeyan in every practice and qualifying session leading to the race.

The 34-year-old Chennai-born driver replaced HRT regular Vitantonio Liuzzi and started last (24th) on the grid.

Sunday's performance should be reason enough for HRT to retain Karthikeyan for the rest of the season.
