Karthikeyan qualifies 17th for French Grand Prix
Karthikeyan's fastest lap on Saturday was 1:17.857 secs, while Monteiro's was 1:18.047 secs.
India's Narain Karthikeyan qualified in 17th position and his Jordan teammate Tiago Monteiro of Portugal in 19th position in the qualifying races for the Formula One French Grand Prix here on Sunday.

Karthikeyan's fastest lap on Saturday was 1:17.857 seconds, while Monteiro's was 1:18.047 seconds.
Karthikeyan, who expressed satisfaction, admitted to "some mistakes".
"My time was OK, I think. I have made some mistakes, which cost me a little bit of time, but generally it was a clean lap," he said.
"We worked hard on the balance of the car and I am quite satisfied with the set-up we have found. Now we have to wait and see for the race tomorrow (Sunday)," he said.
Monteiro was also satisfied with his performance despite the problems.
"It was a rather good lap, my best of the weekend so far. We have had so many problems since Friday, which delayed the programme we wanted to follow and limited my track time," he said.
"Therefore, I did not really know what to expect from the car. However, I have pushed really hard and I am satisfied with my time. It was also different to run later in the session as the track was definitively cleaner, I hope we will be able to do this again in the season," added the Portuguese.
Jordan sporting director Adrian Burgess said the team was in "good shape" for Sunday's race.
"Both drivers had good and bad parts about their qualifying lap. Narain had a good first sector, then he made a few mistakes in the middle and recovered in the last one," he said.
"Monteiro was not too bad in the first sector, but then he made a mistake in the last corner. I think we are in good shape for tomorrow (Sunday). As normal, we have concentrated on the race and are reasonably happy with our situation," said Burgess.
With the region's unpredictable weather conditions, the team is hopeful of an exciting race.
