"I am sure that those belonging to the Left parties and the the Congress, including Karunakaran, will vote for the NCP, setting aside their political loyalties", he said, addressing a public meeting in Wayanad district, where NCP state President Muraleedharan is the party candidate.

Expressing confidence that Muraleedharan would emerge victorious in a triangular fight involving the LDF and UDF, he said people were aspiring for a change for the better, which the NCP could provide.

Taking credit for welfare measures launched for farmers during the UPA rule, Pawar said "it is unfortunate that both Congress and Left are vying with each other to claim honours".

"I have taken special care when I took over as Union Agriculture Minister to overcome food scarcity in the country and today we have sufficient stocks in godowns', he said.
